Our piano teacher Diarmait offers piano lessons in all styles of music for ages 10 and above, from beginner to advanced. This piano teacher has a Bachelor of Music degree and a wealth of experience in both teaching and performing on piano. Diarmait has been teaching piano lessons since 2015. He has ten years of experience playing piano and keyboard in bands, recording and touring in the UK and Ireland with artists including Grant Hart (Husker Du), and appearing at major venues such as Vicar St. in Dublin and Waterfront Hall in Belfast. He has also toured with his own band supporting major artists that include Billy Ocean and Theo Katzman (Vulfpeck). This piano teacher has enjoyed national radio play (2FM, RnaG) of music he has composed and co-produced both as a member of bands and a solo artist. Diarmait has a deep knowledge of the role of the piano, keyboards and synthesizers in electronic and contemporary music, hip-hop, funk, and Irish traditional music. His band was recently named 'Best Irish Band' by The Irish Times. This piano teacher focuses on music theory, ear training, and improvisation over notation and sight-reading, teaching according to the axiom that 'education is not the filling of a pail, but the lighting of a fire,' and concentrates on helping each student to discover their own unique musicality.
