Our piano teacher, Jonathan, in Paddington offers classical piano lessons for ages 5 and above, from beginner to advanced. He teaches on a wonderful Blüthner grand piano and also provides tuition in organ and music theory. Jonathan holds a Master of Music degree with Commendation and has been teaching since 2005 in both private and school settings. He is an award-winning organist who performs regularly for Sunday services and concerts across London, bringing his active musicianship directly into his teaching. From 2007 to 2016, Jonathan worked at the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM), where he contributed to major exam publications and recordings, gaining a deep understanding of exam standards and musical development. Since 2016, he has been a Commissioning Editor at Oxford University Press, shaping educational and performance publications used by musicians worldwide. This experience gives his teaching a broad perspective on music education and repertoire. Jonathan’s approach is thorough, creative, and encouraging. Lessons are individually tailored to support each student’s musical growth, whether preparing for exams, developing performance skills, or learning purely for enjoyment. He emphasises solid technique, expressive playing, and a genuine connection to music that lasts beyond the lesson. Jonathan welcomes students who wish to explore a wide range of repertoire, from core classical works to contemporary pieces, and is committed to nurturing both skill and confidence in every pupil.
